Dealing the cards
52 cards are divided equally among four players. Each player receives 13 cards. Spades are always the trump suit.
Bidding process

Rules for winning a trick
In each trick, all four players play one card. The highest spade or the highest card of the lead suit wins the trick. Spades can cut any other suit.
Point calculation
If the bid is met, the player earns positive points. If the bid is not met, negative points are deducted. The player with the highest points wins.
Number of rounds
Typically 5 rounds are played. Cards are dealt and bids are made fresh each round. The player with the highest points after 5 rounds is the overall winner.
